Members of the Reno Fire Department, Local 0731, walked around the intersection of S. Virginia Blvd and McCarran Blvd. Saturday collecting donations for local families fighting muscle disease.
With the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the fire fighters are collecting donations for their annual Fill the Boot fundraiser to help save and improve the lives of people living with this muscular disease in the Reno and northern Nevada area.
"For more than six decades fire fighters have stood on the front lines for MDA, striving to make a difference in the lives of those affected by muscle disease, Lisa Teigen, MDA Nevada's Fundraising Coordinator said in a press release. She continued to thank the fire fighters for dedicating countless hours each year.
The International Association of Fire Fighters is the largest national sponsor of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Since the organization declared their support for MDA in 1954 they've raised over $558 million dollars.
If you would like to help you can visit your local fire fighters at the corner of S. Virginia Blvd and McCarran Blvd Saturday until 5:00 p.m. or you can visit The Muscular Dystrophy Association's website at mda.org.
