Reno Police officers say they have charged a man with open murder in connection with the November 2014 death of a taxi cab driver.Â
27-year-old John Orris was charged with open murder on Monday along with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a firearm with an obliterated or removed serial number. Police say Orris was already a suspect in a burglary that occurred in Reno, also last year.
An arrest warrant for the burglary was issued for Orris who was subsequently arrested in California on unrelated charges.Â
After being extradited back to Reno, police say Orris provided them information that tied him to the murder of 55-year-old Sami Amin.Â
Amin was shot and killed last November in the 900 block of Wheeler Avenue. The Whittlesea driver was found alone inside his taxi.Â
