Storey County Fire Fighters Local 4227, along with The Delta Saloon, is hosting a Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser, to assist Brother Klingler and his family with medical expenses for their son who was severely injured when he was struck by a car while riding his bike, back in February.Â
The fundraiser will be hosted at The Delta Saloon on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Virginia City. There will be many events, including the spaghetti feed,
a silent auction, face painting, a bounce house, a live band, a fire safety trailer with fire safety demonstrations, and apparatus tours.
Local 4227 is asking the public to help raise money for Rhett. Organizers are calling this the #RhettStrong Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser.
On February 19, 2018,  Rhett Klingler, the son of Fire Captain Fritz Klingler, was hit by a vehicle while riding his bike in front of their house. The driver was an elderly woman who experienced a medical event and had previously had her license taken away.
He was transported to Renown with critical injuries and admitted into the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Rhett was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury with a bleed, and a broken femur. His femur was repaired surgically, and his brain swelling was managed with medications.
Rhett was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital, in Salt Lake City, for extensive therapy and rehabilitation. He spent 38 days total in the hospital and was discharged. He has recently enrolled back into school and is continuing his daily physical therapies. The family is adjusting to the dramatic change in their life while taking care of their other children and responsibilities.
