As some of you may know, some of the new street signs in Midtown Reno featured a regrettable misspelling of Virginia Street.
This has led to many jokes online along with memes and a response from RTC saying, "if it takes misspelling to get you to come to Midtown during construction, we'll do it!"
The misspelling has also prompted a hoodie and sticker being sold online by Hoff Goods, which is run by an independent designer and illustrator right out of Reno.
Even an change.org online petition is asking to officially change Virginia to Virgina. Poster Brandon Main says, "Doing so will save tax payer dollars from having to make duplicate signs and will be a benefit to the Reno community as a whole."
The RTC has released an updated statement apologizing for the mistake. “During the sign-creation process, a typo occurred,” it tells us. “The signs were posted in error by RTC’s Virginia Street Project contractor, Sierra Nevada Construction….We’re working to get this corrected as soon as possible.”
