The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County wants to remind drivers of available parking in the Midtown area during construction of the Virginia Street Bus RAPID Transit Extension Project.
They said there are marked spaces in the parking lot behind the Ponderosa Hotel with 36 spots and an additional 85 marked spaces are throughout the construction zone. Temporary spaces in the construction zone can be found on South Virginia Street between Thoma and Moran Streets, between Vassar and Arroyo Streets and between Pueblo and Mt. Rose Streets. Temporary parking spots may change as construction continues.
Other ways to get to Midtown during this time are:Â
South Virginia Street from Liberty Street to Plumb Lane is open to southbound traffic only
Northbound traffic detoured on South Virginia Street starting at Wells Avenue to Vassar Street to Holcomb or Center Street
Northbound traffic detoured to Mt. Rose Street to Plumas Street
Side streets along Virginia Street in Midtown also have business access.
