The decision echoes Nevada's preparation for past elections and was made after consultation with election officials and state leaders.
By law, the canvass has to happen before results are certified by the state that's expected to happen November 22nd.
Adam Laxalt has released a statement that he called Senator Catherine Cortez Masto congratulating her on winning the Senate race.
The decison comes after Clark County released 22,323 votes Saturday night that saw Cortez Masto pick up 14,084 votes to Laxalt's 8,239.
The DOJ will monitor polls in 24 states, including Nevada in Washoe and Clark counties. There are 66 voting sites in Washoe County.
The county had received more than 10,580 mail ballots as of Friday.
Monitors will include personnel from the Civil Rights Division and from U.S. Attorneys’ Offices.
RTC is providing free bus rides to the community on Election Day.
Most poll locations say they will stay open until 7 p.m. to give early voters a little more time.
More than 296,000 Nevadans have early voted in this year’s election.
