Three Republican Presidential Candidates Visit Northern Nevada

Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske issued a statement Thursday regarding employee leave for caucus participation.

In response to numerous questions regarding the applicability of NRS 293.463 to the 2016 presidential caucuses, Cegavske issues the following statement: 

“In October 2007, the Secretary of State’s office issued an interpretation that the provisions of NRS 293.463 that allow a registered voter to be absent from his or her place of employment at a time determined by the employer in order to vote did not apply to the 2008 presidential caucuses.” 

“After review of the 2007 interpretation, the Secretary of State’s office upholds and reaffirms the interpretation that the provisions of NRS 293.463 do not apply to the 2016 presidential caucuses. However, the Secretary of State’s office encourages employers that are able to allow their employees to participate in the caucuses.”
