CBS reports a seven-week-old girl from Asheville North Carolina has been found safe.
They say Police in Asheville received a 911 call on Thursday afternoon reporting a mother and her child had been kidnapped from a local park.
The mother, Krista Noelle Madden, was later found by a local who encountered her near a church on a rural road.
It is told Deputies then picked her up and found her car abandoned a short distance away.
CBS says authorities attempted to find the kidnappers until they received another 911 call from a couple who claimed to have found an infant at the bottom of a ravine near their home after hearing crying.
When asked about Madden's kidnapping claim, authorities said "at this point we don't believe that to be factual." CBS says they believe Madden tossed the girl over the ravine herself.
Krista Noelle Madden is now jailed on one count of attempted first-degree murder.
