South Lake Tahoe City Manager Frank Rush has announced that he will resign effective January 24, 2020. Rush will start a new position as City Manager of Big Bear Lake, California in February.
City representatives say Rush came to South Lake Tahoe from Emerald Isle, North Carolina. He had been with the City of South Lake Tahoe for almost a year.
“I have appreciated the opportunity to serve this beautiful community and have enjoyed getting to know South Lake Tahoe and so many wonderful people I’ve met over the past year,” said Rush, “I am excited for the next chapter in my career, and in my life and my family’s lives.”
Mayor Brooke Laine says, “This news is very disappointing. The City has made significant progress over the last year with the help of Mr. Rush as City Manager. Ironically, this council and our city staff have operated without a city manager before and I am confident we will work diligently to fill this key position. We wish Mr. Rush the best.”
“As City Staff our business is working for the people. It’s the reason we all chose a life of public service,” said Chris Fiore, Communications Manager, “We will continue to work diligently on behalf of the City of South Lake Tahoe.”
City Council will discuss next steps in the process of selecting a new City Manager soon.
