South Lake Tahoe Fourth of July Parade

The City of South Lake Tahoe is holding their 4th of July parade on Tuesday starting at 10 am.

The parade will start from the "Y" where Highway 89 and 50 intersect and end at Bijou Community Park.

Drivers can expect delays from 9:45 am until 11 am on the two eastbound lanes of Highway 50 from the “Y” to Al Tahoe Blvd. as there will be a “rolling closure” for the parade. The two westbound lanes of Highway 50 from Stateline to the “Y” will remain open.  They are encouraging drivers to use Pioneer Trail during and immediately following the parade.

The City says they have received over 75 float and vehicle entries and more than 200 walkers for the parade that honors local veterans and The American Legion Post 795 who is serving as the parade marshals.

After the parade, a BBQ will be held at the Bijou Community Park at 1201 Al Tahoe Boulevard. All proceeds from the BBQ benefit the American Legion. A GoFundMe account has also been established to raise funds for the local American Legion Post 795 at www.gofundme.com/LegionPost795.

Howie Nave, local on-air personality from KRLT and host at the Improv at Harveys, will be the host an emcee for the parade. Nave will be announcing in front of the Lake Tahoe Unified District school bus garage.

Officials say the parade will be live streamed at www.tahoeweathercam.com as a courtesy of the Tahoe Weather Cam and Community Ink Network. They say to be sure to register and activate your account in advance.
