Sparks Police Arrest Duo in Taxicab Robbery Case

Sparks Police officers have arrested two people in connection with a taxicab robbery that happened early Sunday morning in Sparks.

On Thursday, police arrested 26-year-old Miguel Padilla and 26-year-old Yvonne Ablia in connection with the crime.

Police say the robbery happened just before 2:15 a.m. Sunday in the area of Rock and Freeport Blvds. after the driver was hit in the face and robbed, while dropping off a woman near Baldini's Casino.

Police say a woman lured the taxicab driver to the area where the alleged robbery took place, after she was picked up at an unknown Reno casino.

The taxicab driver was treated for two cuts he suffered to his face, and police say an unknown amount of cash was stolen during the robbery.

They were both booked into the Washoe County Jail on a charge of robbery with a deadly weapon. Bail is set at $40,000 each.
