A man is in custody after he eluded officer after a short pursuit Sunday morning
Around 8:20 Saturday morning officers were dispatched  to the 1500 block of York for a male subject who drove on the reporting person’s front lawn and walked into their home and began shouting. The reporting person advised dispatchers that he had never seen this person before. When officers had arrived to the house on York Way, the male subject had just left.
At approximately 8:52 a.m., the Sparks Police Department received another 911 call advising that in the 1200 block of Tyler a vehicle was parked in the middle of the street and a male subject was out of his vehicle yelling crazy things.
Officers immediately arrived on scene, the male subject who was later identified as James Clauser, then entered his vehicle and drove towards the first responding officer and tried to get around the patrol vehicle. When Clauser was unable to get around the patrol vehicle, he backed up and turned around and headed east on Tyler way.
Several other Officers were now on Tyler heading west. Clauser willfully avoided stopping, drove towards the officers and swerved around them.
A short pursuit then ensued from Tyler way to north on Pyramid and then west on McCarran where the pursuit was terminated for reasons of concern to the general public.Â
Citizens reported seeing the suspect driving erratically in North East Sparks. Officers located the suspect vehicle and the suspect fled from officers at a high rate of speed. Officers terminated the pursuit of the vehicle. A short time later the suspect vehicle was located at Pyramid and McCarran by the Nevada Highway Patrol and a Sparks officer. Clauser was taken into custody without incident.
Clauser was booked into the Washoe County Jail on two counts of Eluding a Police Officer, Reckless Driving, Fail to stop at a Red Light, and Fail to Obey Stop Sign.
He is being held on $41,240.00 bail.
