National Weather Service Issues Winter Storm Warning for Lake Tahoe Area

With the recent snow storms in Northern Nevada, people are finding that it takes the right kind of clothing to keep warm outdoors.

Leo Trebotich, a winter clothes salesman at Sports Ltd. in South Lake Tahoe, says Sports Ltd. sold at least double the merchandise this year during heavenly ski resort's opening weekend, compared to the last three years.

"Since these storms came in you can definitely tell people are coming in wanting some warmer weather apparel,” says Trebotich.

He tells his customers they won’t find much comfort in the winter outdoors if they aren't wearing the right clothes.

"Water proof shoes, making sure to get Gore-Tex gloves, everything to keep them dry, warm and safe here in the winter," says Trebotich.

One outfit he recommended was layering a water proof Gore-Tex jacket, and a wool sweater, all while staying away from cotton.

"Eliminate layering and wearing cotton t-shirts because cotton is really good at soaking up moisture," says Trebotich.
