For those planning on signing up for insurance through Nevada Health Link, the deadline is Sunday.
Not only is it a federal law to sign up for health insurance, but Nevada Health Link organizers say it is a good idea to enroll in-case an emergency happens.
A surge of people came into the Nevada Health Link enrollment store on Sunday. They knew it was not only their last chance to sign up for coverage, but that it was also their last chance to receive face to face help.
For people like Lisa Franco, Sunday is the last opportunity to meet with these kinds of industry experts.
“It went wonderful, wonderful broker Rebecca, she helped me with all different situations that I'm going through and helped me find the cheapest one,” says Franco.
Nevada Health Link organizers say these brokers take a look at financial situations and help people make the best insurance decision.
The United States Department of Health and Human Services reports that at least 59,000 people have gone through the application process so far.
For people who miss Sunday's deadline, the next option would be to shop for private coverage outside of the Nevada Health Link marketplace.
Residents who did enroll Sunday, say they are relieved it's finally over. Reno resident Mike McCloy says this was his third time attempting to finish his enrollment.
“It worked pretty smoothly and I'm glad I came in because I got some good advice,” says McCloy.
The deadline for enrolling in coverage is Sunday at midnight.
