For the first time in nearly two years Friends of Sutro Tunnel opened the 28-acre Sutro Tunnel site to members of the public that wanted to tour and get an up-close and personal look into one of Nevada’s historic mining sites.
Adolph Sutro built the 3.88-mile-long tunnel in the late 1800s to drain and ventilate the mines of Virginia City.
