Lake Tahoe is a popular summer spot, especially for the Fourth of July. However, there is a big beach problem this year: little beaches.
"There's hardly any space on the beach," said Dana Stiles of North Tahoe Watersports at Kings Beach. "This year there was so much snow and the snow melt has filled the lake."
Beaches are much narrower because the lake is almost full. The massive snow pack from the 2018-2019 winter has led to big runoff.
"The lake is really high right now," said Allen Wooldridge, Park Supervisor for Lake Tahoe Nevada State Parks. "It's approaching its legal limit so we have a lot less beach than years past."
People are packed and because there is little space. Some say it just feels busier.
"Even when there was not a lot of people, there is still a lot of people," said Like Schoch, from San Jose. "When we got here. we were not close to our neighbors. We were a good distance. But I got to look around. People start coming in and now we're pretty close. Gotta come here early."
Wooldridge agrees.
"I would definitely get here by 9 o'clock if you want to be here at Sand Harbor this weekend," said Wooldridge.
