Nevada Women's Soccer Drops Season Finale at UNLV

Punter Quinton Conaway has been named one of 83 nominees for the Burlsworth trophy for the 2019 season. Named after Brandon Burlsworth, the trophy is awarded to the most outstanding football player in America who began his career as a walk-on.

Recent notable recipients of the award in past years are Hunter Renfrow, Luke Falk, and Baker Mayfield.

“This award is about the journey, the incredibly challenging journey that all of these nominees have taken,” said Marty Burlsworth, CEO and founder of the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation and older brother of Brandon. “When you begin your college career as a walk-on there are plenty of skeptics, those that think you can’t do it. This group of Burlsworth Trophy nominees have proven all the skeptics wrong. They have put in an immense about of work and overcame numerous obstacles to make their dreams come true.”

Conaway is currently averaging 42.31 yards per punt this season, with 10 pinned inside the 20 and only three touchbacks. He has booted nine punts of 50 or more yards and 2,031 total.

Following Nevada’s 21-10 victory over New Mexico, Conaway moved into fourth all-time in Nevada history with 6,660 total yards in the Silver & Blue.

The Pack will continue conference play at San Diego State this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
