Reno Police arrested a homeless man earlier this month for an alleged robbery and on an outstanding felony warrant.
The robbery happened on April 23 around 5:20 p.m. on Country Estates Drive, according to a release from the Reno Police Department.
The victim, identified as an adult man, was waiting for a taxi when a man on an e-bike allegedly approached him, battered him, and stole his backpack.
The victim suffered serious injuries, including a punctured lung, facial fractures, and a brain bleed due to the attack.
During the investigation, it was found that after the robbery, the suspect traveled to a nearby church on Holcomb Ranch Road, where he discarded several of the victim's personal items and was seen on surveillance footage putting on the victim's jacket, according to the RPD release.
Using surveillance footage, investigators were able to determine that the suspect was homeless and lived in the area.
On May 2, the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Nick Willis, was found near an NDOT service road in the area of Kietzke Lane.
He was arrested, and during questioning admitted to the robbery, according to the release.
He was taken to the Washoe County Jail and booked for robbery and his felony warrant.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to call the Reno Police Department's non-emergency line at (775) 334-2677 or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900 or secretwitness.com.
