Authorities arrested an unauthorized person who trespassed onto the Nevada Air National Guard Base in Reno on Wednesday.
The unidentified person was taken into custody by military security forces, turned over to the Reno-Tahoe Airport Police Department and then transported to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.
“We take all security matters seriously,” said Col. Catherine Grush, commander of the 152nd Airlift Wing. “Thanks to our excellent relationship with the Airport Authority and local law enforcement, this incident was handled professionally and expeditiously.”
"The civilian is not a foreign national and is not assumed to have had malicious intent. No other damage occurred."
A Guard spokesperson says operations at the base and nearby airport continued without disruption.
The person's motive remains under investigation.
