Police arrested a wanted man after he fled from officers in Truckee on Wednesday, triggering a lockdown at two Truckee Tahoe Unified School District buildings, including a school.
It happened around 9 a.m. in the area of Highway 89 South and Donner Pass Road, according to a post from the Truckee Police Department on Facebook.
The suspect, identified as Oscar Hernandez-Martinez of Truckee, fled from officers on foot when approached, prompting a heavy police response in the area.
Because the incident happened near TTUSD facilities, the School District was told and subsequently locked down its main office and the SELS Charter School out of an abundance of caution.
Hernandez-Martinez was arrested a short time later, and at no time was there any active threat to the school district or any students.
He was booked on six outstanding arrest warrants pertaining to Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Felony Vandalism, Resisting Arrest, and Narcotics charges, and is being held without bail at the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility in Nevada City.
