Tahoe Boat Ramps Move to Winter Schedule

Officials say a portion of the Sand Harbor East Shore Trail will be closed starting on Friday, May 8 until further notice due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

They said to help prevent surges of COVID-19, access to Sand Harbor State Park from the Tahoe East Shore Trail will be closing.

Officials said the section of the Tahoe East Shore between Memorial Point and Sand Harbor will be closed, but the Tunnel Creek to Memorial Point segment of the Tahoe East Shore Trial will remain open.

They want to advise drivers that parking along Highway 28 near Sand Harbor as well as walk-ins are prohibited.

Sand Harbor's hours of operation are form 8 a.m. to one hour after sunset, seven days a week.

Officials said the visitor center and gift shop are closed until further notice as well. The boat ramp and restaurant are closed for the season, with re-opening dates not yet determined.

They said if residents do visit the area, they're asking for you to practice responsible recreation, which means: separating yourself and honoring the social distance of others, avoiding crowded areas such as trail heads, and keeping parks and facilities clean by following the principles of Leave No Trace.
