In 2021, the Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation launched the Nevada Trail Finder website, a free resource that allows users to search trails across the state. In January of this year, the Division released a new update focused on local businesses and they are asking for community feedback to make the most of the update.

The Trailside Services update adds information to each trail of nearby services and local businesses. It ranges from visitor centers to local Forest Service centers for information, to local guides and even rentals or nearby mechanics. Making the website a powerful tool for anyone planning a trip through the Silver State.

"Nevada Trail finder really helps to broaden the reaches and the exploration that people now have. They can feel a lot more confident in going out and recreating and knowing that there are going to be some local services," says Jasmina Sekanovich, Geographic Information Systems Analyst at Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation.

All of the information on Nevada Trail Finder is aggregated through partnerships on the federal, state and local levels and verified through the Land Manager. It creates an extensive database that is completely free. But because this update is fresh, the Nevada Division of Outdoor Recreation is asking for community input to help expand their information and improve the website.

"So, since this update is so new, we're still trying to gain traction on getting businesses to add their local resources to our website. So this again is a free service for businesses to sponsor their website and sponsor their business to gain more traction and also just help recreationalists. So if anybody is interested, they can always contact us or make that account and add their business," says Sekanovich.

And if you would like to check out the update for yourself or if you're a business that would like to be listed on Nevada Trail Finder you can find the website here.
