WRITE A BRIEF (TWO TO THREE SENTENCES) SUMMARY OF YOUR PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE THAT WOULD ENABLE YOU TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THIS OFFICE:Â
I have devoted my professional career to defending individual rights and civil liberties. I served Washoe County as a Deputy Public Defender for 15 years. I now serve as the Court Referee in the Reno Justice Court, appointed by the current Justices of the Peace after serving as a Judge Pro Tem since 2017.
WHAT IS YOUR TOP PRIORITY IF ELECTED?
Upholding the rule of law fairly and without bias while ensuring that the rights and freedoms of individuals are protected. I would work with the Specialty Courts (as I did for 8 years in the Reno Municipal Court) and other programs in our community to encourage the rehabilitation of misdemeanor offenders. I would also seek solutions for the less fortunate that come before the court - homeless, mentally ill, and those addicted to substances.
BRIEFLY DESCRIBE YOUR JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY—WHAT MAKES AN EFFECTIVE JUDGE?
Listen to the those that come before you. An effective judge must have the ability to balance impartiality and empathy. They must always strive for justice, protecting the vulnerable and ensuring a fair, independant ,and impartial forum for all.
IN ONE SENTENCE: WHAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING VOTERS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I have the right experience for the position of Justice of the Peace.
YES OR NO: WILL YOU ACCEPT THE RESULTS OF THIS ELECTION, WHETHER YOU WIN OR LOSE?
YesÂ
