Lake Tahoe Community College announced Monday it will extend its COVID-19 testing through March 31, 2021. It is the only large-scale COVID-19 testing site operating in El Dorado County.

Testing is by appointment only, and appointments open up on a week-by-week basis.

The nasal swab tests are free to any El Dorado County resident, regardless of their health, access to medical insurance, or their immigration status.

Priority will be given to those with symptoms such as fever or shortness of breath.

Testing takes place Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Physical Education building on the Lake Tahoe Community College Campus in South Lake Tahoe. For directions, call 530-541-4660.

Tests results reportedly take 4-6 days, but may take longer depending on the volume of testing going on.
