Young Woman Asks Driver Who Likely Totaled Her Car in Hit and Run, To Come Forward

A 19-year-old TMCC student had a rude awakening this weekend, finding her parked car outside of her home, possibly totaled.

Very early Saturday morning--just before four o'clock, Alanna Miller's roommate woke her up. Miller said that was followed by banging on her front door, "My neighbors came knocking on my door really loud and we were all scared. We were all like what? She was like, 'Someone totaled your car.'"

Since Miller moved in last August, she usually parks her 2013 Ford Fusion right out front, on the street. It was in the same spot as usual that night when Miller says, "It got hit so hard it moved like 20 feet up and my back windshield popped out." Whoever did it took off immediately and even left part of their car, their bumper, behind.

Miller immediately reported the incident to police.

Miller's mother, who lives in Winnemucca, says she showed the damage to the local Ford dealership. She says they told her it's likely totaled since the frame is damaged.

At this point, they are not sure if insurance will cover the full cost of damages or a replacement car. In the meantime, Miller says she's not even mad, she just wants whoever is responsible to come forward.

Miller also says she's asked around the neighborhood to see if any surveillance cameras might have caught the hit, but she hasn't had any luck.

The Reno Police Department says they will evaluate the incident further and follow up with potential leads, if there are any.Â
