Reno Police arrested a 16-year-old on multiple charges on Friday following a Thursday crash.
The arrest comes as the department expands traffic enforcement involving motorcycles, e-bikes, and e-scooters in south Reno.
The juvenile who was arrested is facing charges including battery on a protected person, three counts of reckless driving, two counts of duty to stop at the scene of an accident, eluding, and additional traffic-related charges, according to a release from the RPD.
The crash that resulted in the juvenile's arrest happened on Thursday in the area of Veterans Parkway and Steamboat Parkway.
Police seized the motorcycle that was involved.
“With the rise in use of alternative forms of transportation, it’s critical that riders obey the same laws and safety standards as any other vehicle on the road,” said Lt. Stallcop with the RPD's Traffic Division.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to call the Reno Police Department's non-emergency line at (775) 334-2677, or Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900 or secretwitness.com.
