Former Nevada Lieutenant Governor Kate Marshall is running for Reno mayor, following her campaign announcement on X earlier this year.
“I’m running for Mayor of Reno. This city is my home - and I’m ready to lead it forward with bold solutions and real results. Let’s build a Reno where everyone can afford to live, work, and thrive,” she posted.
Marshall’s campaign has since highlighted endorsements from Congresswoman Dina Titus, Congresswoman Susie Lee, State Senator Skip Daly, and Assemblywoman Heather Goulding.
She is also endorsed by the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 3 and the Laborers’ International Union Local 169.
Other supporters include Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley, Ely Mayor Nathan Robertson, former Henderson Mayor Debra March, and former Speaker of the Nevada Assembly Jason Frierson.
In a statement, Marshall said, “I am so grateful to have the support of my community and Nevadans across the Silver State. I am running to be Mayor of Reno to chart a new way forward that supports the unique needs of each of our neighborhoods; to get the most out of the tax dollars we have today, and to make life in our city more affordable. This is just the beginning; when we work together, we can get things done in Reno, and that is why I am running, because Reno deserves the best.”
Marshall’s campaign also reported raising more than $200,000 in the first 24 hours following her announcement.
Marshall has previously served as State Treasurer and as White House Senior Advisor to Governors during the Biden Administration. Her work in public service includes creating the Office of Small Business Advocacy, establishing the Office of Outdoor Recreation, and launching Nevada’s first-in-the-nation college kickstart program.
She is one of several candidates in the race to replace Mayor Hillary Schieve, whose term ends in 2026.
