“We must now see this as a time of emergency. This is not a time to just be thinking about our own selves. We must think about our country now,” said Democratic candidate for president Marianne Williamson. Williamson made several stops in the area Thursday. She stopped at several non-profits in the area, a yoga studio for a campaign rally, and 2 news for an exclusive interview.

“You're going into your own truth and authenticity as you can,” said Williamson at a campaign rally at Yoga Pearl yoga studio on Thursday. Williamson campaigned in several parts of northern Nevada Thursday. She wants to get the word out on who she really is and her strategies if she is elected.

“The wacko crystal lady image was a purposely intentionally effort to mock and marginalize my campaign. There is no crystal lady in my 35 year career. There is nothing anti-medicine. There is nothing anti-science,” said Williamson.

She says she is against the influence of big companies on government. “Our government has become little more than a system of legalized bribery. Our government does more to advocate for short term profits for huge multi-national corporations than it does to deal with us,” said Williamson.

She says this is particularly demonstrated in school shooting situations, like the one that happened in Santa Clarita, California on Thursday. “How traumatizing it is for every child. Every day they go to school and may not know if this may be the day they may be shot,” said Williamson.

She is advocating for 2 new departments to be added to the President's cabinet: 1) the Department of Children and Youth 2) the Department of Peace.

“We need trauma informed education. We need community wrap-around services. We need mental health services not only for our children, but for their families. We need conflict resolution. We need anti-bullying. We need violence prevention,” said Williamson.

Williamson is behind other candidates in the polls, but she says she will not quit. “If my heart says to give up, then I will give up. But right now I am talking to people and attracting volunteers,” said Williamson.

She says she will also not run as an independent. “I will not run as an independent only because Donald Trump is president. I wouldn’t do anything to lure even 10 votes away from the Democrat in this next election,” said Williamson.
