UPDATE: The Nevada Seismological Laboratory has updated information on the earthquake that happened on Friday evening.

Officials said it was a 4.5 magnitude quake and it happened about 4.3 miles southeast of Carson City.

Following the earthquake, Nevada Highway Patrol says the Nevada Department of Transportation inspected bridges around Carson City for potential damage.

They say no bridges were found to have visible damage from the earthquake.

The Nevada Seismological Laboratory reports a magnitude 5.0 earthquake rocked the area near Carson City on Friday afternoon.
