The snow continues to come down in Tahoe City and the surrounding areas. Adding to an already impressive snow pack. For Liz Wilson and Andrew Laughlin, the snow is really piling up at their place on River Road in Tahoe City. “The snow blower may make it look easier than it is. But it weighs a ton,” said Wilson. “I was doing a respectable job of keeping up with keeping up with the snow removal at the property. But I blew a knee out skiing,” said Laughlin.
While Laughlin is on the injured list, he has been forced to turn to other alternatives to try keep the snow from piling up at his home and business. “I have found that when I try to hire someone off Facebook or Craigslist ad. Four out of five don't show up when they say they will, or don't show up at all. They flake out I guess,” said Laughlin. He says that even those who are not disabled, are looking for help right now. “I think that people are shoveling themselves are calling in reinforcements to shovel alongside themselves. They can't get it all done themselves,” said Laughlin.
Wilson and Laughlin's other friends have being stepping up to help out. But the overall volume of the snow that's come down over the last several weeks, can be quite overwhelming. “It's so wet and heavy it gets quite backbreaking,” said Wilson. The work may not even be close to being finished. “A lot of the years I've been here, March is always the biggest snow month and we haven't even started March yet,” said Laughlin.
