Over 712,000 Americans are seeking unemployment aid as layoffs remain high.

The figure is a bit lower than last week's report from the Labor Department of 748,000 jobless claims but numbers still remain three times higher than pre-pandemic times.

This report is an indication that layoffs remain at large as the economy is restricted amidst the attempted recovery from the pandemic.

Even with federal aid like the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program and the CARES Act, people are still out of jobs and struggling.
