DETR's Bureau of Services to the Blind and Visually Impaired is opening its first low-vision clinic in northern Nevada.
The new clinic will be held quarterly over a three-day period, and will be able to see up to 20 clients during each period.
The clinic kicks off November 20 through November 22 this year.
To be seen, patients will need to be a VR Nevada client. If you're interested, you should contact your rehab counselor to get a referral for a low-vision assessment.
At the clinic, a team including a specialized optometrist conducts interviews to gather information about vision loss, and makes a determination about how the patient's vision is affecting their every day life.
Then, the optometrist provides a written report of the findings and provides recommendations for aids, devices or training that will help the patient.
If you'd like to participate but you are not yet a client of VR Nevada, you can apply to become a client on their website.
