On Saturday and Sunday, Waste Management will be hosting residential dump days for Washoe County residents.
In an effort to keep the community and individual households clean, common items often associated with illegal dumping will be accepted free of charge.
Appliances like refrigerators, stoves and dishwashers or hefty items such as mattresses and couches, will be taken for free.
The Waste Management transfer stations in Reno are expecting some busy crowds because of the reduced rates. Even with long lines of customers, Sarah Polito with Waste Management says they're ready for the increase of trash this weekend, especially if it means keeping garbage off of open space.
“Well I think this is a great opportunity for our customers to do some summer cleaning, it's gorgeous outside so they can absolutely take advantage of this and we're proud to do our part in keeping the Truckee Meadows clean,” says Polito.
During April's residential dump days, Waste Management saw more than 1,200 customers and the disposal of nearly 1,100 bulky items.
