The Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) is reporting a happy outcome for a lost hiker on the Tahoe Rim Trail on Friday.
They say she started hiking with her Siberian Husky from the Thomas Creek Trailhead at 11 a.m. Friday.
WCSO says when it started getting dark, she lost her way.
They say at 9 p.m. on Friday volunteers from Washoe County Sheriff’s-HASTY Team, the Specialized Vehicle Unit, and Search and Rescue were dispatched.
WCSO says the hiker and her dog were 3.62 miles from the Mount Rose Summit parking lot. They had hiked 17 miles.
They say when volunteers found her, she was at the intersection of three trails.
They say she was cold, tired, and thirsty.
The WCSO says their HASTY team provided her warm clothes and water.
They say their SVU team drove her and her dog to safety.
The WCSO says after getting checked by medics at our staging area, volunteers took the hiker and her dog back to her vehicle.
They say the entire mission took about four hours.
