The whiskey industry is growing, if you're a fan of bourbon or scotch... A new whiskey lounge in town is getting a lot of attention from locals and even from a presidential candidate.
Not only do they have over 200 different whiskey's, from all around the world. But we're told what makes this place so popular is the homey feel, and great company that you can find behind the bar.
Russell Hol is the man some people call a creative mixologist, the best bartender in town, and even a friend. Hol helped open The Whiskey Lounge located in midtown a couple of months ago.
"I basically found a financier who believed in my ideas and what I wanted to do, and this is kind of the finished product. It means a lot to have someone kind of believe in you like that. You know what I mean, especially someone who you have never met before. Someone who you don't know, and there like I believe you can do this, lets just do it. Then to be able to put some money behind those ideas, it's incredible. It's a blessing for sure," says Hol.
People we spoke to at The Whiskey Lounge say not only do they come for Hol, but they also come because he puts a creative spin on his drinks.
"This bartender owner Russ takes the time. He seems to me to be a mixologist, he doesn't just pour you a shot. He knows the history of the drinks, all the liquor that they have here, and takes his time to make handcrafted cocktails." says regular Paul Ritter.
We even met a husband and wife who make the drive from Carson City every other week just come to the lounge.
"For me I wanted you to have a homey feel where there's a lot of delicious homemade ingredients. Everything here is handmade from the bitters to the simple syrups," says Hol.
All of this even caught Presidential hopeful Tom Steyer's attention, and he ended up shooting a commercial at the lounge a week ago.
"They just liked the location, the decor, the oak, and the wood feel. Also that homey feel I was talking about earlier, so they just decided to shoot their commercial here," says Hol.
Hol says everyone is welcomed at The Whiskey Lounge and you don't have to be a whiskey drinker to go. He says they offer a little bit of everything.
"I just want people to feel comfortable when they come in. Hospitality is about making people feel welcomed," says Russell.
