Wolf Pack runs away from Huskies in 2nd Half en route to 81-62 win

University of Nevada

It took another second half comeback for the Nevada Wolf Pack as they topped the Hawaii Warriors 26-18 on Saturday night on the Islands.

The Wolf Pack got off to another slow start as they trailed the Warriors 10-0 in the second quarter before Cody Fajardo found the endzone on a 6 yard keeper at the end of the half to make it 10-6 after Brent Zuzo missed the point after.

Nevada then came out of the locker room and produced 14 play 72 yard drive capped off by a 22 yard Zuzo Field Goal to cut the deficit to 1 point.

Later in the quarter Fajardo and the Pack would take their first lead of the game after the Senior Quarterback scored his second rushing touchdown of the game to make it 16-10.

The Pack's next possession was a clock eating 19 play 85 yard drive that ate up nine and a half minutes in which Zuzo finished the drive with another field goal as Nevada extended their lead to 19-10 in the 4th. Before that Center Matt Galas caught a deflected pass in the endzone for what was initially ruled a touchdown, but after review it was determined the ball hit the ground first.

The Wolf Pack would eventually find the end zone again later in the 4th quarter as Fajardo hit Hasaan Henderson for a 16 yard touchdown strike on 4th down to give the Pack a 16 point lead.

The Warriors would score a touchdown and a two point conversion late in the game but fail to recover the ensuing onside kick as the Wolf Pack win their second game in a row to improve to 5-3 on the season and 2-2 in Mountain West play. The Pack is now one victory away from becoming bowl eligible for the first time since 2012.

The Pack returns to Mackay Stadium on Saturday November 1st for another MWC battle with San Diego State. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.
