Florida Readies For A Fight With Zika Virus

Southern Nevada Health District has confirmed through the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) that one person in Clark county has tested positively for the Zika Virus. This is the first positive case in Nevada.

The adult man who tested positive recently traveled to Guatemala, where the disease is present. The Health District says there is not a great concern of the disease spreading as it primarily is spread by a mosquito bite rather than from person to person. Though they do say that there is some evidence that the disease can be spread sexually, though this is rare.

Southern Nevada Health District would like to stress that, at this time, all of the cases in the United States have been acquired while traveling.

If you are traveling, the CDC has a list of precautions to take based on where you are going. You can find that information here.Â
