LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas authorities say an 8-year-old boy is dead after somehow shooting himself.
The Clark County Coroner's office identified the child Sunday as Clayton James Singleton but did not yet determine the cause and manner of death.
Police were called around 5:30 p.m. Saturday to a residence on Wine Cellar Avenue near El Capitan Way about a report of a child being shot.
Upon arrival, they pronounced the boy dead.
According to police, the boy's gunshot wound appeared be self-inflicted.
Investigators say the boy lived at the home but there were no adults present at the time of the incident.
They say the firearm belongs to a member of the household.
The investigation remains ongoing.
