Reno becomes Artown in July and that means an entire month of art, culture and music for you and the family to experience. Nearly 500 events will be happening all around town this July.Â
It's a family friendly festival for all ages.
"I'm really excited, 'What about you Zac?' I'm more excited than you!" said Ranon Millard and Zac Jorgensen from Reno.Â
This year is the 20th anniversary of local, national and international acts. Musical, theatrical and dance performances, along with a multitude of art will be showcased this entire month.Â
Beth MacMillan, the Executive Director of Artown said, "We have events for seniors, Â we have events for children. Â We have different global events. Â Artown is really something for everyone."
On Wednesday, the musical band MarchFourth! led hundreds of people in a parade full of dancing and music. But Wednesday was just the kickoff to this festival. There's going to be more than 100 workshops this month. And those we talked to are planning on attending as much as they can.Â
Amber Johnson from Reno said, "We're definitely going to do the movies in the park and I'm going to try and get as many of the music festivals as possible to fit in, because I really want to expose the kids to stuff like that, so it will be good for them."
"It's important for my kids to stay active and to dedicate time to art because my brother is an artist you know and we know what it is to deal with art. It's messy but it's fun," said Becky Rodriguez from Reno.
If you couldn't make it out Wednesday, you have 30 days left for tons of art and music. You can find the full calendar of events at renoisartown.com
