Adding a new member to the family is an exciting time. But it can also be stressful. Â
Biggest Little Baby in South Reno sells everything a new child will need, but they offer much more for parents.
"We have a large yoga studio and we have support groups," said Laurie Skiles of Biggest Little Baby. Â "We have a breastfeeding support group on Mondays. On Thursdays we have a free parenting support group, typically lots of moms in that one, and it's everything from 'is this normal?' to 'I just need to be around other people,' because community is so important after having children and a lot of people discover this once they have children that they need to get off social media and be around others."
The store also offers fitness and wellness classes like circuit training and yoga.
"When you're doing the yoga, it also helps loosen the joints and prepare your body for birth," Skiles said. "So prenatal yoga is something that's important to do through the pregnancy. Â You want to want to make sure you have a doctors medical release but yes, prenatal yoga is something very important for the pregnant body."
Everyone is welcome here.
"You have some many different parenting styles, and we embrace people of all different sorts of parenting styles," Skiles said. "So if you're natural parenting, you're going to find someone to bond with in natural parenting. Â If you are a person who uses disposable diapers or formula or you're a cloth diaper family, you're going to find someone who is in that same walk of life as you and you're not alone in this."
There are classes and groups for parents in every stage of the journey. It's a support network that grows as the families do.
"You'll find all the support you need here," Skiles said. "I've literally sat on this floor and cried with moms because they just needed support. So this is not a place where you're going to come in and feel like you're just being sold to. When you come in, you're part of our family, and that is a really big thing for us, embracing those that are all around us. We've got families who are coming back after their second, even their third child, because they knew that the support and bonds they formed here were very important to them."
The store has three safety techs to install car seats, something the majority of new parents don't do correctly.
There's a Trick-or-Treat event at the shop, 7693 S. Virginia Street,  on Friday, October 25th. Story time starts at 11 a.m. all the stores in the Winners Crossing Shopping Center will give out candy starting at noon.
