The Nevada Board of Regents has chosen the next leader of Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno.
  Â
The board voted Friday to accept Chancellor Dan Klaich's recommendation of hiring Kyle Dalpe as acting president once current president Maria Sheehan retires in January.
  Â
Regents also accepted Klaich's recommendation to launch a national search for Sheehan's permanent successor. As acting president, Dalpe won't be able to take over the position permanently.
  Â
Dalpe has a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Nevada, Reno. He has worked at the community college since 2002, and serves as Sheehan's chief of staff.
  Â
Klaich described Dalpe as "presidential material" and said he had broad support among groups inside and outside of the college.
  Â
His annual salary is expected to be $140,000. (AP)
