Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe authorities say a recreational boater was found dead in Pyramid Lake Tuesday.
Public Information Officer, Don Pelt says The Pyramid Lake Police Department first received a call of a possible missing boater in a canoe on Monday.
The Boaters vehicle was found at Popcorn Beach. A search was conducted by Pyramid Lake Police, Pyramid Lake Rangers, Pyramid Lake Fire Rescue/EMS and assisted by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Special Vehicles Unit and Raven Helicopter, however due to the darkness no one was found.
Tuesday morning the body of 26 year-old Michael Anthony Beaton was found in the lake near Anahoe Island and pronounced dead at the scene.
Beaton was an active duty member of the United States Air Force whose last known address was in Las Vegas, NV. Mr. Beaton’s next of kin was notified with the assistance of the United States Air Force.
Officials say Mr. Beaton was wearing a life jacket while he was boating.
