Health professionals say they're seeing fewer people come into emergency rooms due to COVID-19 concerns. They're starting to get worried that people aren't getting the help they need. We spoke with Shelby Hunt, a Registered Nurse with Northern Nevada Medical Center, and she hopes to shed some light on the current state of our emergency rooms. "We're not seeing our normal Emergency Department patients, and we have attributed that people are too scared to come to the Emergency Department," says Hunt. Hunt says she understands why people are afraid, but they're taking extra precautions to decrease the chances of patient exposure to COVID-19 while in an emergency room. "We're trying to separate those patients. If it's anything respiratory we're putting those in a separate part of the Emergency Department," says Hunt. Hunt asks that you trust your medical professionals and if you're in need of medical care, don't hesitate to come in. "We do not want anyone suffering at home, or having a heart attack at home, or asthma attack because they're afraid to get COVID. They still need to seek emergency treatment," says Hunt.
