The Carson City School District says Carson High School's vice principal is on administrative leave after he was arrested on a DUI charge earlier this month.

CCSD says Marc Rodina was arrested January 11th in Douglas County. 

Rodina is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. 

The Carson City School District released this statement on Wednesday: 

School district officials confirmed Tuesday that Carson High School Vice Principal Marc Rodina was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence. The incident occurred Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, in Douglas County. The district is cooperating with local authorities and said, in accordance with district policy, Rodina has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. School officials said Rodina notified his supervisor of the charges, which employees are required to do within 24 hours.

 

CCSD says prior to his appointment as vice principal for Carson High School, Rodina served as the dean of students and athletic administrator (2004-2019) at Carson High. He was also a Physical Education, Weight Lifting and Health teacher (1998-2004) at Carson High.

Rodina earned a Bachelor’s in Heath, Physical Education and Recreation from South Dakota State University in 1992, and he later earned a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix in 2002.

Prior to his teaching and administrative positions in Carson City, Rodina was a Physical Education and Health teacher (1996-1998) at Buena High School and Physical Education and Adaptive Physical Education teacher (1993-1996) at Sierra Vista Middle School in Sierra Vista, Ariz.

He was also a Math teacher (1992-1993) at Casa Grande Unified High School in Casa Grande, Arizona.
