UPDATE: Reno has become another city to rename the second Monday in October as Indigenous People's Day instead of Columbus Day.

The resolution passed unanimously at a meeting with the Reno City Council on Wednesday.

The City of South Lake Tahoe passed a similar resolution in June.

Original Story: The City of South Lake Tahoe passed a resolution to rename the second Monday in October as Indigenous People's Day, instead of Columbus Day.

Officials said it passed 4-1 in a meeting on Tuesday.

The resolution states the City of South Lake Tahoe wants to honor the contributions of indigenous people's of the region to the community.
