City of Reno Releases Final Statistics for Santa Pub Crawl

Downtown Reno was filled with Santas, elves, reindeer, and an assortment of other Christmas characters Saturday night for the 16th annual Reno Santa Pub Crawl.

“The final statistics from the City of Reno have been collected regarding this year’s Santa Crawl,” Special Events Program Manager Alexis Hill says. “We want to thank the businesses and participants that helped make this year’s Santa Crawl a safe and fun event.”

The Reno Police Department estimated about 15,000 event participants this year.

The City of Reno's Community Service and Safety Team has released the following statistics:

  • 60 businesses visited
  •  5 citations issued during the event (alcohol cards and code enforcement)

Of note, members of CSAST visited 50 bars, restaurants, liquor stores and businesses in the downtown core the week prior to the event to review best practices and provide detailed information regarding expectations for public safety during the event itself.

“The Reno Police Department continues to work this event as a cooperative effort between those in attendance, the local businesses, the event promoter, and the citizens of Reno,” Reno Police Chief Jason Soto says. “The goal of this event is to create a fun and safe atmosphere for all those who attend, while maintaining our mission of creating a safe city by providing the highest level of police services. While the participants had to brave the wet weather, this year was another successful event using this cooperative concept.”

On March 9, 2016, Council approved an in-kind sponsorship with the Silver Legacy for $6,000 of City of Reno services to be provided to the special event, Santas Under the Arch, which is a group photo taken in downtown Reno as part of the Santa Crawl.
