A new poll out by CBS News and the New York Times has given Congress some of the lowest ratings it's ever gotten.
President Obama got low ratings on everything from foreign policy to addressing terrorism. But Congress overall got low marks on efficiency.
When asked if "Most Members of Congress Deserved to be Re-elected" only 5% of those polled said yes. A whopping 87% said it was time for new people in Washington.
And when asked if "Your Own Congressional Representative deserved to be Re-elected" only 28% said yes. More that twice that, 63% said it was time for new people in their seats.
And those we talked to today in Northern Nevada agreed.
Barbara Sitowski of Reno said, "They spend way too much time raising money for re-election and not nearly enough time doing the jobs we sent them there to do."
Carroll Russum agreed.
"I think they are wasting everybody's time and money not doing anything."
And his wide Dionne said they are all being inefficient.
"They shouldn't be allowed to leave without doing what we sent them there to do," she said. "We sent them there to do what the public needs done and they just aren't doing it."
"They are not addressing public policy," said Eric Herzik who teaches political science at UNR. "They are avoiding issues in Washington to get home and raise money for re-election. They are not addressing public policy and the public should be mad."
The other big question will be whether polls like the one put out by CBS News and the New York Times today will translate into any action at the voting polls come November.
