The Lake Tahoe Airport is going to get an upgrade. The building was constructed in 1959 and the last time heating and cooling was upgraded was about 40 years ago.

The airport project includes demolition of the lobby and common area carpeting, walls, doors, lighting, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, ceiling tile and grid. Construction includes; replacement of the building HVAC and mechanical equipment, replacement of the lighting, new wall and ceiling treatments, new windows and glazing, installation of a gas fireplace with stone facade, timber log and iron accents. Also wood paneled walls, new office doors, and a visitor's center area. Modifications to the reception area include an ADA counter and safety glass transaction window, new carpeting and resilient flooring. ADA upgrades to lobby entrance door will include an electronic door and ADA ramps. 

The airport ramp is also getting replaced, the airport has received more business jets and other large business aircraft. The ramp at the airport was originally designed for lighter, smaller aircrafts.
