Convicted Drug Dealer Charged in Murder of Fox Exec Gavin Smith

A man under investigation in the disappearance of 20th Century Fox executive Gavin Smith is now charged with his death.

Today, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced a convicted drug dealer identified as 42-year-old John Lenzie Creech has been charged in connection with his murder.

57-year-old Smith disappeared in May 2012 after leaving a friend's home. His remains were found last fall by hikers near Palmdale.

Smith's sister lived in Reno in 2012 and helped organize a search for him after he disappeared.

Creech is currently serving an eight-year sentence for a drug-related crime.

He's set to be arraigned in court on Monday. If convicted, Creech faces 25 years to life in prison.Â
