Brian Valencia, a local cake artist took Food Network'' 'Holiday Wars' by storm. Valencia and his team, Peggy the sugar artist and Cory the cookie artist, otherwise known as the 'Frost Bites', took home the grand prize of $25,000 and the title of 'Holiday Wars' newest champion.
“I never would have imagined I would have made it this far so, I’m really excited and nervous but I think we’ve got this in the game," Valencia, the Peppermill Casino cake artist said.
But Valencia said the reason the 'Frost Bites' had the best chance of winning was because of how well their team worked together.
After winning, Valencia said: “We did it! this is crazy, I never knew this was going to happen.”
The teams final winning cake display was a houseboat made up entirely out of candy, cookies and of course CAKE!
“The final cake was definitely the hardest cake I’ve made so far, it was I believe four and a half feet tall and that's just a huge cake to deal with,” Valencia said. “I think as a team we came together and we pulled it off really good.”
But the final cake on the show wasn't the only celebratory cake Valencia made. He also created a four and a half foot cake of himself as Santa Claus for the finale watch party.
“This took me like 10 hours total to complete.... I am very proud even to the beard, I am really proud of this cake," he said.
At the finale watch party, Valencia was surrounded by his biggest supporters.
“My family is very proud of me and I’ve been pushing myself a lot more than I’ve ever in my entire life so this is something huge for me," he told us.
But winning wasn't the only surprise for Valencia...
“I just got the key to the city and today is officially Brian Valencia Day," he exclaimed as he held up the key to the city.
As for the winnings, he hopes to follow in his idols' footsteps, Buddy Valastro from Cake Boss who was also on 'Holiday Wars', and open a bakery of his own.
“What I hope to do with this money is save it to hopefully open my own bakery in the future, because that's what I’ve wanted since I was a little kid," he said.
